Are you ready to represent Australia in one of the biggest gatherings in the history of professional BMX racing? 

The countdown for the 2017 UCI World Championships is on, and this time Rock Hill, USA will be hosting this spectacular event! The competition days will occur from July 25-30, 2017. Official training (practice) will occur on July 24-25, 2017.

Rock Hill is one of the few Olympic-like tracks in the USA designed by inspiration from the Beijing BMX track of 2008. The 2017 UCI World Championships will host an expected 3,300 riders and an estimated 300 professional athletes from over 40 countries, over the course of 5 event days!

2017 UCI BMX World Championships - Selection Criteria

Automatic Qualification

As per rule 6.4.005 of the Regulations, if a rider finishes as a main finalist in the previous year’s UCI BMX World Championships, they gain automatic qualification for the following years UCI BMX World Championship.


As per rule 6.4.005 of the Regulations, BMXA is permitted to register up to 16 riders in each Challenge Category for the UCI BMX World Championships. Accordingly, BMXA have in place the following selection criteria process to select riders in the Challenge category who wish to compete in the UCI BMX World Championships:

(1) All riders who wish to compete at the UCI BMX World Championships are required to submit a nomination form and accompanying payment information (ie credit card details) or fee to BMX Australia (BMXA) on the prescribed form and before the due date.

(2) Any rider who makes the Challenge Category Semi-Finals at the BMX National Championships (i.e. top 16 finish at the BMX National Championships) will be given preference to compete in the UCI BMX World Championships. For riders where a Challenge Category is not offered (ie 17 & Over Women), preference will be determined as per criteria requirement (3).

(3) All riders will be contacted following Nationals to confirm their entry. No payments will be processed until confirmation has been given.


Eligibility requirements for Sprockets

In addition to the above, any Sprockets who competed in the Sprocket Categories at the BMX National Championships will be given preference to selection of available positions. At no stage will the results or placings be advertised from the BMX National Championships.
